Essential Surf Gear and Must-Haves for a Smooth First Session
Heading to your first surf lesson? Whether you’re surfing in Venice Beach or any coastal destination, knowing what to bring can make your experience smoother and more enjoyable. Here’s your essential surf lesson checklist:
1. Swimsuit or Surf-Friendly Gear
Wear a snug-fitting swimsuit, rash guard, or wetsuit (depending on water temperature). Avoid loose clothing that could come off in the waves.
2. Towel & Dry Clothes
After your lesson, you’ll want a clean towel and something dry and comfortable to change into.
3. Sunscreen (Reef-Safe!)
Protect your skin with reef-safe sunscreen. Apply it 15–30 minutes before your lesson—focus on face, neck, and shoulders.
4. Water & Snacks
Surfing is a full-body workout. Bring a reusable water bottle and a light snack to refuel post-lesson.
5. Positive Attitude
Beginner surfers fall—a lot. Bring patience, humor, and an open mind. You’re here to learn and have fun!
